News and Events

The coastline of Cornwall is made up of stunning cliffs, golden beaches, historic ports and harbours, plus some amazing wildlife.

A kayak offers a unique opportunity to explore all this in a safe way within the club environment. Various club trips are organized throughout the year which cater for all levels of experience. These are all led by our team of BC qualified club coaches.

ALL MEMBERS PLEASE NOTE . . .

There has been a cliff fall below the SWCP/access track close to the bottom gate of the field.

Therefore, under no circumstances can vehicles use the bottom access to the field. We can walk on this part of the road with kayaks and canoes.

At this point in time, the top gate must be used for all vehicle entry and exit.

Fowey Harbour Swim - Safety Cover
Sunday, 7th September 2025
Venue: Fowey Caffa Mill - on the water at 13.30

We have been asked if any club members would provide kayak safety cover for the annual swim from Town Quay to Readymoney and back.

This involves 50 or more swimmers of varying age and ability, and has always been good fun! The swim is to raise money for the RNLI.

All paddlers taking part must be a minimum of 2 star standard, or paddle explore, and due to the currents and swell at Fowey Town Quay, must be competent paddlers.

Weekend Camping / Canoeing Trip - UPDATE
Friday, 19th September 2025
Venue: Cawsand

Update on weekend camping trip - NOW 19 to 22 September

Firstly, just to stress this is an unofficial paddle event so paddles are on a peer basis only.

Thanks to everyone who got in touch to express an interest in the camping weekend away in September. They'll hopefully be around 14 of us altogether - maybe more if there's additional interest.

Some people couldn't make the last weekend in September so we went for 19-22 September instead.

I've booked a geodome at WilderMe for the Friday and Saturday night (19 and 20 September) to share with a couple of people and will also be around for most of Sunday 21 September too.

I think everyone else is intending to stay at Maker Camping. If you haven't already, please can I ask you to book directly yourselves as this seems the simplest way and offers you maximum flexibility. I'm afraid we haven't negotiated a discounted rate but prices seem reasonable. More details and the link below.....

Dates: Friday 19 to Monday 22 September (choose to stay 1 to 3 nights depending on your availability)

Location: Maker Camping https://www.makerheights.org.uk/camp-maker-heights-camping-cornwall

Pitches: Suitable for tents, camper vans, motorhomes, caravans (max. 6 people per pitch). Please note there are no electric hook ups available.

With thanks to everyone who's done this already, please can I ask anyone who hasn't yet, to:

1. Book your pitch for the number of nights you wish to stay (for info, some are booked in Moors and others in the Skylark area)

2. Let me know which nights you have booked so we know how many people to expect and when - juliecherry@hotmail.co.uk or 07837 852 335.

3. Contact Kevin to request any club kit you wish to borrow (please also let me know if you wish to borrow a club boat and are unable to transport it there yourself so we can explore whether it may be possible to take a trailer)

The sites for WilderMe and Maker Camping are next to each other.

Any questions? Please let me know if there's anything I haven't covered.

Isles of Scilly 2026
Saturday, 8th August 2026
Venue: St Mary’s, Isles of Scilly

Isles of Scilly camping/kayaking trip 2026

Paddle in good company around the beautiful coastline of St Mary's, cross over to the Eastern Isles and see the amazing wildlife: seals, seals and more seals, razorbills, guillemots, maybe even a puffin too. Circumnavigate St Martins and Tresco, have a picnic on Bryer, maybe even paddle over to St Agnes or go rock hopping on Men-a-vour. Can you do all of this in a week - yes you can, and some!

Seeking expressions of interest for a week's kayaking and camping on St. Mary's in 2026

Dates: Saturday 8th to Saturday 15th August 2026

Cost: £350-£400 estimate to include ferrys, transport of kayaks, kit and camp fees (exact amount will be confirmed once numbers are set).

Who for: SACC Club members, club members and partners

Following successful weeks on the St Mary's in 2023 and 2024, we are once again hoping to visit the IOS again in August 2026.

If you are intestested, please email me via   treasurerstaustellcanoeclub@gmail.com
