News and Events

The coastline of Cornwall is made up of stunning cliffs, golden beaches, historic ports and harbours, plus some amazing wildlife.

A kayak offers a unique opportunity to explore all this in a safe way within the club environment. Various club trips are organized throughout the year which cater for all levels of experience. These are all led by our team of BC qualified club coaches.

ALL MEMBERS PLEASE NOTE . . .

There has been a cliff fall below the SWCP/access track close to the bottom gate of the field.

Therefore, under no circumstances can vehicles use the bottom access to the field. We can walk on this part of the road with kayaks and canoes.

At this point in time, the top gate must be used for all vehicle entry and exit.

Weekend Camping/Canoeing Trip
Friday, 26th September 2025
Venue: Cawsand

Weekend camping/canoeing trip in late September.
Near Cawsand (option to paddle from the beach there) - Mount Edgecombe nearby, Plymouth just across the water.
Friday 26 to Monday 29 September (or possibly the weekend before if that is a more popular choice).

2 options -

1. WilderMe - https://www.wilderme.com or Google Maps https://maps.app.goo.gl/L1uFpwG6FNwZboPu6

Glamping option - 6 luxury geodome tents with clear sections in the roof for star gazing, proper beds - 2 domes have double bed (with option to add 1 or 2 (at a squeeze) singles), other 4 have 2 (or 3 at a squeeze) single beds.
Communal tent for cooking and socialising. 2 hot showers + 2 compost toilets with flushing toilets available a 5 minute walk away.
Charitable venture offering breaks for autistic adults and families with autistic children so it's supporting a good cause too.
Fantastic reviews + it's listed in the Guardian's 10 best charity holiday stays in the UK.
If there's enough interest we could book the full site for the weekend (3 nights) and get a discounted rate. Cost per person, per night approx. £33 (with 3 sharing) or £50 (with 2 sharing). There's also the option to book the domes individually for fewer nights, but that is at their standard rate (more expensive but not massively so).

2. Maker Camping - https://www.makerheights.org.uk/camp-maker-heights-camping-cornwall or Google Maps https://maps.app.goo.gl/9h9wvYbj6ZaujY316

Very close to WilderMe. Standard camping - bring your own tent, caravan or campervan. Showers and communal space but no electric hook ups.

Cost - From approx. £13 per person, per night (or less if we can negotiate a discount). Fully flexible option - come for as few or many nights as you wish.

What's nearby - Both sites are about a 10 - 15 walk to Cawsand and Kingsand (lovely villages and beach). Walking distance to pubs. Also very close to The Canteen at Maker Heights which serves breakfasts, lunches and pizzas. Patchwork Studios (also very close by) hosts events so there's lots to do nearby.

Interested - Please contact Julie Cherry (juliecherry@hotmail.co.uk or 07837 852 335) as soon as possible (ideally by 7 August) and let her know.....

1. Whether you'd like to stay at WilderMe or Maker Camping.
2. Which weekends you are available (26 - 29 September or 19 - 22 September) and, if both, your preferred weekend.
3. How many nights ie 1 (Friday or Saturday), 2 (Friday and Saturday) or all 3 (Friday to Sunday).
4. WilderMe - let me know if you'd like a double dome or are happy to share one of the singles (3 people max, 2 more comfortable)
5. Maker Camping - an idea of number of nights would be helpful (if we want to try to negotiate a discount) + what you are bringing ie a tent or a caravan/motorhome.

Please contact me by Thursday 7 August.
